Kolam Design

Peacock is often a tantalizing creature that brings joy to it's viewer. This pattern (Kolam) is designed by combining different motifs and elements to show the richness of the multi-racial society in Malaysia.

The "Kolam" is originally a form of sand painting, using colored rice often decorated the entrance of Hindu homes. It is believed that the "Kolam" serves as a welcoming gesture and said to bestow prosperity to those homes. This auspicious Art of home decoration is to evoke the blessings of the deity Lakshmi (Goddess of prosperity) by lighting oil lamps around the compound and displaying skillfully designed Kolams.

The particular Kolam in the picture was done by me together with other teem members selected by the Limkokwing University Of Creative Technology, Malaysia. At two different places:
Pavilion KulaLumpur and Sepang-Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
